VIVA MANU!

For this post, I will be writing about NBA and basketball legend Manu Ginobili. Manu is an Argentina-born basketball player who won and accomplished almost everything possible on the basketball court. Such accomplishments include leading his team to an Olympic gold medal, EuroLeague title, and NBA Championships. Manu was an integral part of success for every team he played for as he played every game with an unmatched competitive fire and passion.

Such competitiveness was often viewed as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. Manu was drafted with the fifty-seventh pick in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft. Manu quickly became a household favorite among Spurs Nation as his bilingual background speaking English and Spanish made his connection to the city of San Antonio unbreakable. Manu would go on to play his entire sixteen-year NBA career with the Spurs as the love between him and the organization was deep.

In those sixteen years, Manu helped build the Spurs into a dynasty and a model of success and consistency all opposing teams envied. As I briefly mentioned above, Manu would win four NBA Championships with the Spurs. For his career, Manu averaged 13.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Manu’s playing career would come to a close as he officially retired in 2018. He left the game as arguably the greatest sixth man of all time and the greatest basketball player to come out of South America. Manu’s final chapter in his career will come to a close this Saturday, September 10, 2022, as he will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
