LiAngelo's Shot!

In today's blog post, I will be writing about LiAngelo Ball(“LiAngelo”). LiAngelo was born in Anaheim, California where he would begin working out and training at a very young age. LiAngelo is the middle son of two former collegiate athletes Lavar and Tina. LiAngelo is also brother to current NBA guards Lonzo and LaMelo Ball. Since a young age, LiAngelo’s goal has always been one thing, playing in the NBA.

Freshman/Sophomore Year

As a high school student, LiAngelo would team up and play with his older brother Lonzo. They would play at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California. As a freshman and sophomore, LiAngelo and his team would fall short and lose back-to-back championship games.  All while putting the country on notice while scoring 53 points in a game against Dorsey High School.

Junior Year

In LiAngelo's junior year, the brotherly trio would be complete as younger brother LaMelo made the team. As a trio, Chino Hills and the Ball brothers were unstoppable. Chino Hills would finish the regular season 27-0. Furthermore, LiAngelo would be a key contributor in Chino Hills' CIF Southern Section Open Division title victory over Sierra Canyon School where he would score 31 points. In the Open Division Title game against De La Salle High School LiAngelo would score 18 points in helping secure the win. As a junior LiAngelo averaged 27.4 points per game along with a 35-0 undefeated record.

Senior Year

At the start of his senior season, LiAngelo would start the season on fire as in his first few games he would score a whopping 56 and 72 points. In addition, his hot start did not end as later in the season he would continue his high scoring with some games scoring 65,60, and 52 points. Overall, his team would fall short. They would lose the CIF Southern Section Open against Bishop Montgomery High School. To finish the year Chino Hills would finish with a 30-3 record. LiAngelo as a senior averaged 33.8 points per game leading the state of California in scoring.

Post High School Career

LiAngelo would come out of high school ranked as a three-star recruit. He would enroll and commit to UCLA as a 6'5" guard. LiAngelo's career at UCLA would be very short; he would only play in one preseason game. This is due to LiAngelo and three of his college teammates getting caught stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store in Hangzhou, China. UCLA following said action would suspend him indefinitely from the program. LiAngelo and his father Lavar would later grow impatient with said suspension; LiAngelo would then announce his intentions to leave and withdraw from UCLA.
Following his collegiate withdrawal, LiAngelo would not be considered as an NBA prospect. He would then bounce around different teams and organizations in hopes of eventually making the league. He would play briefly overseas but mainly in the NBA G League.

Current

Among recent news, LiAngelo has recently signed a non-guaranteed contract with an NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets. Uniquely, the same team his younger brother LaMelo starts for. LiAngelo is currently in the process of competing in Training Camp in hopes of making a roster spot. The Hornets along with other teams are required to trim said roster spots from 20 to 15 to start the regular season. Will LiAngelo make it? We will find out soon.
